- Get 2-3 tbsp finely chopped fresh coriander
- Take 1 tomato finely chopped
- Take 1/2 tsp sumac powder
- Make ready Salt and pepper to taste
- Get 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil
- Prepare For Hummus: (see recipe)
- Take For assembling:
- Get Fries
- Get Pita bread/ homemade flat bread
- Prepare Jalapeño and olives (optional)
- Get Coal for smoke
Instructions to make Shawarma Pockets (Middle Eastern style):
- Marinate the chicken with all ingredients of marinade and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or for overnight.
- In a bowl mix all the ingredients of salad and keep aside.
- Prepare your sauce as well. I had leftover raita yogurt so I used it.. 😉
- Prepare the hummus and fries. I had some leftover hummus so I used it, you can skip it too. - (see recipe)
- Grill the chicken, 7-8 mins each side. Cut into thin slices. Give a smoke of coal if you like.
1. Grill the pitas.
- Assembling: Make pockets in the pitas and fill with hummus, sauce, chicken pieces, salad, jalapeños and olives.
- Serve with fries and hummus and enjoy!!
